The City of Cape Coral Building Department will re-open on Tuesday, October 11th.

They will be prioritizing Emergency Permits for Hurricane Ian recovery and clean up.

Most permits will be issued over the counter at the time of application without review or within 1-3 business days for permits that required review according to the CCCIA.

Work that will not require a permit:

Removal of debris from on or inside a structure
Minor demolition to prevent injury or prevent further damage to buildings
Structural shoring and bracing
Replacement of broken glass within existing framing for windows and doors
Repair/Replacement of soffit and gutters
Minor non-structural repairs made to the exterior of structures
Repair of minor water leaks that do not involve structural, mechanical, or electrical systems.

Certificates of Occupancy will be priority and they are working on procedures to resume inspections on work in process.

The staff will continue to process permits in the que but there will be a short pause on the acceptance of new permits to deal with the influx of emergency permits.

We all need to be patient at this times. Everyone is doing the best they can.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
